Hong Kong beaches by minibus from Causeway Bay

Three lifeguarded beaches with changing rooms and showers sit on one minibus ride from Causeway Bay: Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, and Stanley. Green minibus 40 runs from Jardine’s Bazaar in Causeway Bay to Stanley Village and calls at Deep Water Bay Beach and Repulse Bay Beach on the way, so you can look out of the window, pick the one that looks quietest, and get off there.

At the Stanley end, almost everyone walks straight into Stanley Market. Turn the other way instead and you reach Stanley Main Beach, which stays far emptier on a weekend. Crew report that is the better call when you want sun and a swim before a night sector rather than shopping.

  • Getting there: green minibus 40, Causeway Bay (Jardine’s Bazaar) to Stanley Village, via Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay. Pay with Octopus or coins, the fare table is posted inside. Coming from Central instead, bus 6 from Exchange Square runs the same coast road.
  • What is on the sand: the Leisure and Cultural Services Department lists changing rooms, shower facilities, and toilets at Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, and Stanley Main Beach.
  • Lifeguards are seasonal, not permanent: cover follows the official swimming season and daytime hours only, so check the dates before you plan a swim around it.
  • Wi-Fi: crew report free Wi-Fi at these beaches, but it is not on the official facility list, so bring your own data if you need to check a roster change.

Confirm the current season dates and any closures on the LCSD beach list for Hong Kong Island South before you spend a short layover on the ride out.
