Four peaks carry almost all of it. Each travel window below is the standard demand period, and the anchor pickup day is the busiest single day inside it. The three dates after that are simply 90, 30, and 7 days before that anchor.

The Florida winter row is the one crew underestimate. The real crunch runs January through March, when the Visit Florida visitor numbers sit well above the rest of the year. So a February pickup at Orlando or Miami is a peak booking. It just does not feel like one in October, sitting in a hotel room with the search open.

Put the dates somewhere that pokes you back

The booking you cannot put in a calendar

Not every crew rental is a family holiday. The one that catches most of us is the spare day inside a trip, usually in the US, where a rest day turns into a drive to a park or a stretch of coast you would otherwise only ever see from FL350. That booking happens the same week, sometimes the same morning, in a hotel lobby with twenty minutes to spare. No calendar reaches that far. If you do not fly US domestic

The method travels; only the dates change. Christmas and New Year is the one peak that is genuinely global, so that row works everywhere. After that, run 90/30/7 against your own region: Easter Sunday lands on 28 March 2027, Chinese New Year on 6 February 2027, Songkran in mid-April, and Japan’s Golden Week from late April into the first week of May. In the Gulf the Eid travel weeks are the big one, and they move against the Gregorian calendar every year, so take those dates from your local calendar rather than from this table.

What Captain AL actually does

First Sunday of the month, with the coffee and the bills, about 20 minutes. Whatever is inside 90 days gets booked, whatever is inside 30 gets re-priced, and anything I am no longer going to use gets cancelled while I am in there. Four live bookings at once through a peak season is normal for me. None of them cost anything to hold.

What I stopped doing is waiting for the roster. It felt responsible. It was also expensive, because the reward for that patience is a minivan at a counter twenty minutes off airport, in the one week of the year when the shuttle runs full. I would rather cancel a booking I did not need than explain that shuttle to my family again.
