Plan your day in advance, so you can see all the attractions even on peak days.

Before you go

Florida’s weather can be hot! Check the weather and be sure to dress accordingly. Plan the Nemo musical, Festival of the Lion King or the bird show in the afternoon when it’s getting hot.

Parking

Have some cash at hand, parking your (rental) car will cost you $17 (2015). Keep your parking ticket, as you can use it on all other Disney parks that same day!

Park your car on the huge parking lot and remember the Animal signs on the pole and the lane number (written in white on both ends of the parking lanes). At the end of the day you will be tired and want to walk straight to your car…

Take a walk or train towards the entrance. Tickets can be bought online or at the gate.

Let the Fun begin!

The park usually opens slightly earlier. Be there before opening to enjoy a quiet park.

Check the food/bag policy. All your bags will be checked. You are allowed to bring your own water and sandwiches (in contrary to i.e. Sea World and Aquatica).

First thing to do if you are a roller coaster fan: walk straight towards Expedition Everest. This one will have long waiting times during the day. Just after opening you can sit in the cockpit seats without delay…

In the mean time: get your fast pass in your My Disney Experience mobile app for the Kilimanjaro safari. A must do! Here are all the animals you need to see.

When exiting the safari, don’t miss the walking safari next to it.

Close by is the wet and wild river, Kali River Rapids. You will get soaked… Plan this ride at the end of the day.

The other spectacular ride is Dinosaur. Can be a little too scary for your younger kids.

Don’t forget to take the train for a behind the scenes look and exit at the first station. If you are lucky, you can follow a live medical examination of an animal! See the vets in action.

Plan your musical visit at the hottest part of the day. You can sit back and relax in an air-conditioned theatre.

At the end of the day, join the party at Simba’s festival, The Lion King. It is close to the exit, so your and the kids can go on your last expedition: finding your car back… ?
