What you get every issue
Crew-only travel deals
Hotel rates, car-rental codes, lounges, and insurance — all checked against current crew-rate availability before we publish.
Layover guides
For the hubs we actually fly to: Bangkok, Dubai, Hong Kong, Joburg, Singapore, New York, LA, São Paulo, Tokyo, and more. Eat, sleep, fitness, transit.
Honest gear reviews
Suitcases, headsets, watches, packing systems — tested in the galley, the flight deck, and the layover hotel. Not in a marketing studio.
Crew lifestyle
Jetlag, sleep, fitness on the road, family travel on staff fares, life after the line — written for people who actually live this.

Every recommendation in the newsletter is filtered through one rule: would I send my own crew to this deal?
How often we email — and our promise
Two to four emails a month, never more.
During long-haul rosters or jetlag-heavy weeks, Captain AL skips an issue rather than publish filler. We would rather send you four genuinely useful emails than eight forgettable ones.
You can unsubscribe in one click from the footer of any email. We will not chase, retarget, or re-add you. Your email address is never sold or shared with third parties — see our privacy policy for the full data-handling statement.
Who the newsletter is for
Anyone who carries a crew ID, an ID90/ZED ticket, or a travel-industry badge:
- Airline pilots and student pilots — cadet, FO, captain, training captain, examiner.
- Cabin crew — flight attendants, pursers, in-flight managers.
- Air traffic controllers and ATC trainees.
- Airport and ground-handling staff — gate agents, dispatchers, ramp, baggage, cargo.
- Airline head-office staff — HR, scheduling, revenue, IT, marketing.
- Travel-industry employees — travel agents, tour operators, OTAs, hotel and cruise crew.
- Retired crew who want to keep using the benefits they earned.
Newsletter FAQ
Is the newsletter free?
Yes — completely free. Airline Crew Discount is funded by affiliate commissions on selected partner links (see our affiliate disclosure). The newsletter itself is and will always be free for crew.
How often will you email me?
Two to four times a month. Roughly weekly during quieter rosters; less often when Captain AL is on long-haul trips. Never more than once a week, never less than twice a month — except during airline holiday seasons when we publish a single round-up issue.
Will you sell or share my email address?
No. We use Mailchimp to send the newsletter and to track opens and clicks at an aggregate level. We do not share your email with affiliate partners, ad networks, or any third party. Full details in our privacy policy.
Can I unsubscribe?
Any time. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. We will not chase you, retarget you, or re-add you to a different list.
I am not airline crew — can I still subscribe?
You can subscribe, but most of the deals require valid airline staff ID, an ID90/ZED ticket, or a travel-industry badge to redeem. The general layover guides, gear reviews, and aviation-lifestyle articles are useful for any frequent traveller — but the crew-only rates will not be accessible to you.
Why does Captain AL use a pen name?
His airline does not authorise active flight-deck crew to comment publicly. The byline is a respectful workaround that keeps him compliant with his employer while letting him help the wider crew community. The flight hours, type ratings, and stories on this site are real — see the About Captain AL page for the full background.
