Getting in from Barajas
- Metro line 8: from the airport to Nuevos Ministerios in about 15 to 20 minutes, but note the mandatory 3-euro airport supplement on top of the normal fare.
- Exprés Aeropuerto bus 203: a flat 5 euros direct to Atocha, running 24 hours.
- Cercanías C1 train: from Terminal 4 to Atocha and Chamartín if that suits your hotel.
The must-sees (book ahead)
- Museo del Prado: Velázquez, Goya, and Bosch under one roof. It is free from 18:00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday, but a skip-the-line tour saves the queue if your time is tight.
