The organic spice shop is part of “Zanj Spice Limited | 1001 Organic”, a social enterprise that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in social, environmental and financial well-being of its small-scale farmer cooperatives. The company supervises the whole production chain from spice forest to factory, to overseas exports in order to provide a comprehensive spice experience and tell the unique story of its spices. All spices are planted, harvested and dried in traditional ways in the wild forests of Pemba and Unguja, Zanzibar. In 2019, 1001 Organic’s Zanzibar Black Pepper won the Monde Selection Gold Award, one of the most prestigious food awards in the industry.’
